Who We Are, Where We've Been

On November 14, 1993 a group of saved, Bible-believers led by Rev. John Groth met for worship at Catawba Funeral Home, Hickory, NC, at the invitation of Mr. Carl Jenkins, then president of Catawba Funeral Home and Catawba Memorial Park.

In October 1994, the members voted to purchase its 15 acres of land located in Newton. In September 1995, after securing a loan to build, Eastside held its groundbreaking service at a tent meeting on its property.

In May 1996, Eastside was finally able to move out of the funeral home and dedicate its new building to the glory of God. Many were saved with over 15 scripturally baptized. Since its beginning, Eastside has supported several missionaries.
